Punky, I have been a Window-Eyes user since it was Vocal-Eyes for dos,
around 1990; and it worked well for all those years, but when Windows 7
came along Window-Eyes version 7.0 gave terrible problems, and version
7.5 was only a little better
I found various ways to help Window-Eyes work, like shutting off the
enhanced sound effects in RealTech onboard sound.
I currently use Window-Eyes version 7.5.2 on Windows 7 64 bit on our
business computer, for email, photos, and such things, but not for music.
I had the same experience that you had, Window-Eyes 7.5.1 would not
operate with both Reaper and ReaAccess running simultaneously.
Reaper crashed as soon as it was opened.
Jaws has no problem with Reaper, so if you can afford Jaws 13, it's your
best choice.
You can probably run Sonar with your Window-Eyes 7.5.2 though, but you
won't have use of scripts, like the free JSonar scripts, or the paid
CakeTalking scripts, to make working in Sonar much easier.
I like 32 bit XP for music; so I got an Intel i7 2600 computer, running
at 3.4 ghz, and installed Windows XP Pro on it.
It is doing very well with Reaper, Sonar 8.5.3, Reason 6, and all my old
32 bit VST plugIns.
I've learned enough about Reaper 3.78, so now I'm thinking of trying the
latest version 4, to learn if it is stable on 32 bit XP.
There are a few little access problems with ReaAccess since version 4 of
Reaper, but there are work arounds to get the sub menus to open.
We're trying to get a users guide for Reaper with screenreaders written;
which should help many of us.
