[RWP] quantization of midi in Reaper

I jusst learned that, according to the online Cockos forums, no version
of Reaper, up to and including 4.22 can quantize midi from the inline
midi editor.
A grid of vertical lines that cross the time line is required; and the
lines represent sixteenth, eighth notes etcetera, divisions of the
measure; and, from the inline editor, you can't change the project grid.
You must go to the piano roll midi editor to reassign the grid.
ReaAccess's midi editor is based on the inline editor, and that is the
reason I couldn't get quantization to work; even though I tried
reassigning the grid from the inline midi editor, by changing number of
grid lines per measure in the options Snap To Grid settings.
In the forums I found sighted users complaining about this bug, or
peculiar method of assigning grids; way back through various versions,
and nothing has been done about it so far.
All quantization is based on project grid, so why should there be 2
different places to change the project grid?
I haven't tried to get inside the piano roll editor yet; but; if Sonar's
piano roll editor tells us anything; it can be a matrix of bit map
horizontal and vertical lines that the screenreader can't cope with, and
who knows where to change the number of grid divisions per measure.
I'm hoping there is a work around someone here has discovered.
Has anyone had success in actually doing midi quantization?
How did you do it?
Thanks,
Indigo L
