I will say that Adobe Audition comes with better effects, for the most 
part, than SoundForge, which I really don't care about these days, since 
almost every bit of processing I use within SoundForge doesn't come with 
it in the first place. Both beat GoldWave's effects by a mile. The 
exception might be the original SoundForge reverb, not the one found in 
version 10, vs. the crappy GoldWave one. I don't know which is worse, in 
that case. They're both horrible and bad. When I first started using 
GoldWave around 1997, long before it had reverb, I used to fake it with 
lots of panned mono delays. It didn't have a multi-tap delay effect back 
then, either.
I used to use a demo of Cool Edit 96 for it's effects, and actually edit 
in GoldWave. I don't really miss those days very much.
