[RWP] Probably repeat question but...Re: hi all, I'm new in this list

I used to depend on Adobe Audition 3 daily but recently had a severe vision
loss that has me using gold wave for much of my audio editing. I have been
legally blind all my life but use Jaws & Magic together so used Adobe for
the big jobs and gold wave for small ones because Adobe had great noise
reduction and restoration tools. However now that I have Magic on 20
instead of 10 I find that Adobe is more of a chore and am looking for more
accesibility which Audition 3 does not have.

My question is does Reaper offer audio editing tools similar to gold wave or
is it more for midi? I play bass and guitar but most of my audio editing is
work for my church web site that I have begun to develop. This means
editing voice mostly and reducing background hiss, hum, and other noise. It
also means occasionally cleaning up songs so I can burn the Christmas or
Easter Cantata to CD etc and make them presentable and not sound like an old
45 record which is wha they currently sound like after Gold Wave is done
with them.

I realize you get what you pay for and Audition is hundreds and gold wave is
50 and so is reaper or about that much. However, I'm looking to combine
various tools if I have to in order to get an accessible audio editing
toolkit at my disposal. I'm still learning to exist at this current level
of blindness. I've heard nothing but good things about reaper so I thought
I would ask. I like Gold Wave and it's certainly worth the $50 but I miss
Audition.

Thanks for your patience
