Hello,
regarding the meaning of accessibility and what it takes to implement it
I think we can safely refer to some nice documentation. The UIA API for
instance is well documented and every developer can simply install NVDA
for free to test the behaviour of his software.
I don't have any idea about the internal structure of the Reaper code
but they do expose a large number of GUI elements to ReaScript and
PlugIns, themes etc. and I wouldn't be surprised if accesibility would
only mean a couple of hunderet lines of code in total.
Yes, I am thinking about some petition offering test support from the
current blind Reaper owners in return.
Why should Cockos make any effort to support this? Well, because beeing
able to claim to have the - I guess - only accessible full featured
recording solution should give them a marketing advantage.
Apple has not spent so much effort on VoiceOver for MAC and iPhone
because they expect much profit from the relatively small number of
blind users - but because they get - and deserve - full recognition for
an accessible product.
