You also could set up a sidechain.
There are YouTube videos on setting up a sidechain in ReaComp.
When you talk the background music will reduce volume; then when you 
stop talking the back ground music will return to normal volume.
Google either: sidechain Cockos reaper or sidechain ReaComp.
You will get the video, which is somewhat useful, and you will also get 
the cockos wiki on sidechaining.
