[RWP] Completely new to mixing

Hello!  I really need help with this:  I'm sorry if any of my
questions are silly.  I've been trying to figure out how to mix on my
own for a year or so and have had no success, so I figured I might as
well bite the bullet and join a mailing list for some legit help from
people who know what they're doing.

I've tried using Sonar with J-sonar scripts and it was really
confusing, but I am completely new at mixing.  I don't even know any
of the terms or anything really, so it's a little overwelming.  Here's
what I want to do:

I compete in online singing competitions, and have been for two years.
 I usually just ask friends to mix for me.  What I would need to do is
be able to record multiple tracks of songs (Have the backtrack up and
be able to record the lead vocal, harmonies and etc) and then be able
to do things like add reverb, fix the levels and save the file.

So what I really want to know is:  How do I do that with Ray access/on
reaper?  is there a guide that I could use to help me get started with
mixing in general.  Like I said before I've tried to teach myself and
it's really overwelming, so any help would be appreciated.
