[RWP] Mackie Display Reader with Reaper

I intend to try the Mackie Display Reader next, although Tim has tried
it with Reaper, and it works, but he says it doesn't provide much
information.
I currently have The BCF2000 controlling Reaper without MDR, running the
same Mackie mode Sonar3 that is used for Sonar.
There are a bunch of interesting and not so interesting schemes to
control Reaper from the BCF2000, including the one I'm using, just plain
emulated Mackie mode, which they call the boring method on the Reaper
BCF forum.
Then there's another method that uses the BCF2000's default B Control
mode, with configuration of Reaper actions..
There's another variation of the B control mode for controlling VST's in
Reaper, then there's one called half and half, so some of the BCF's
panel controls Reaper and some of it controls VSTs.
Then there's the big daddy scheme, by Herr Klinke of Berlin, which he
started in 2006, and has gone through many versions, and may still be
ongoing.
Then others have done mods to Klinke's plug, like running the BCF2000 in
emulated Mackie Cubase mode, instead of Sonar3 mode, plus having Reaper
interpret CC messages as various Reaper actions, such as getting VU
meters at the pots, or using the unclicked state of the pots to control
1 parameter of an effect, and the clicked state of the pots to control
another parameter.
Then there is a BCF2000 sysex preset to control reaper, on its own
website, with many sub presets and manual, for free.
Many users have their favorite variations of any of these, that they've
modded to suit their working habits, like the South African guy whose
YouTube I posted here, who runs the VCF2000 in Cubase mode, so that when
you select track 9 in Reaper the BCF2000's faders automatically shift
from tracks 1 through 8 to 9 through 16, plus he has a pedal board
running into the BCF2000, with 5 or six pedal functions.
There's no end of the complexity and ingenuity.
I'm sort of waiting for Tim's version 2 of the Mackie Display Reader,
hoping it will show me what all the various shifts and button
combinations are doing in Reaper.
Faders for track levels, track pans at the pots, track select and track
mute are pretty obvious, but Klinke's plug gets into controlling
envelopes, and various automation modes, notso easy to tell what's
happening just from listening.

I think this link should take you to the Cockos main forum on everything
BCF2000 for Reaper:
