[RWP] midi on the roland rd300gx

Hi,
Which VST midi program do you mean, is it ReaSynth?
The most you hear from it is oscillator type beeps.
It can make other sounds, but it's not set up.
Have you enabled your midi keyboard in Reaper's Options/Preferences?
Go to Options/Preference from the file menu, reached with F10, or with 
the shortcut control+P from the track view.
Find Midi Devices in the list of Preferences.
  tab down until you find the  wordsMake Available the Midi Devices, 
etcetera.

A list of available midi devices should be at your arrow keys.
Your midi interface's name and your midi keyboard's name should be 
there, with its various midi ports, followed by the word Enabled.
If your keyboard's midi ports are not enabled, no midi messages will get 
to Reaper or VST ReaSynth.
You should not find the workd Disabled; after the name of your Midi 
Interface or your midi keyboard.
