Hi Crystal,
>From what you describe, it sounds like you are trying to record on the
same track you've inserted your backing track into, which would
explain why you can't hear your backing track while you are recording.
This can be easily solved, though:
1. Import your backing track into a new track like you have been doing
all along.
2. Create a new track using CTRL+T. Call it something that will help
you remember what you plan to record on it. For example, if you are
recording your main vocals, you might want to name the track "main
vocals".
3. Once you have created the track, press the home key to make sure
you are at the beginning of the project.
4. Arm the second track you just created by pressing F7. make sure the
first track, (the one with your backing track) is not armed for
recording. F7 will toggle this setting, so if you accidentally arm a
track you are not recording on, press F7 to unarm it again.
Now you should be able to record on your second track while still
being able to hear your backing track. this is a very simple
explanation, so I hope that helps. Feel free to ask for clarification
if there's anything you don't understand. We've all been a newbie
before. Best of luck!
