The first concerns the media explore dialog and previewing files.
It should be possible to do this if you remove two key commands from the reaper action list. The keys are the up and down arrows or cursor keys. For some reason having the keys as actions prevents jaws from focusing on the file list and speaking the names of each file as you move to it. Conversely you must ad the back space key to the actions list, even if it is showing as a selected action in the list. You should then have control over previewing and selecting files.
Unfortunately the files you press eater on will be placed in separate tracks in order of time, so if you have a file which is four bars in length and a second file which is three bars in length. The Reaper will place these file on track one and two with the second file following after the first. It will then place the cursor after both the files that you have selected. If you wish to change this preference you need to go to the preference settings. However I have found that changing the settings has no affect. Perhaps some one can check this out and see where I'm going wrong.
Tip two: Often I wish to preview a plugin with audio material. I have found it tedious to activate the audio in the track view and remember to set repeat, then go in to the plugin and start messing about. I decided to create an action to have the audio play and stop as well as be repeated from my control surface. I can now simply go in to the plugin window and choose when I hear the audio.
I imagine that this is not a revelation to many of you but to those who were frustrated by not having the immediate choice of being able to listen to audio it may be of some help.
Best wishes David.
