[RWP] bypassing a track effect for certain items, is it possible?

Then, what's the method of separating an item from a track and progiding
it its own track.
You can't send to an item, but once that item has its track, couldn't
you then send to that track?
I like each thing on its own track, so I can clearly understand what's
pointing to what.
Sometimes, though, when I have a VSTI plug already inserted, then insert
a midi file, for some Reaper will sometimes offer the dialog to put each
instrument on a separate track, offering to expand to 13 tracks, for
instance, and sometimes, without asking, it'll stick the midi file onto
the plug's track as a track item
Okay, I'm a beginner, working infantile style, but I want to point that
midi item to the synth, or point the synth to that midi file.
I don't like things scrambled together, but all nicely separate.
So, I'll try to get that .mid item onto its own track.
How would you do it?
Thanks,
Indigo L
