This had nothing to do with your screan reader.
It is a safety function of reaper, which can be changed in the properties of 
your project, which mutes the master track when the output goes above a 
sertain level.
Amazingly nice way to protect ones hardware, ears, moniters, etc.
To get the audio back, just press shift+f5.
