As for finding empty songs, there are only a lot of them, assuming you only have the demos loaded. You're probably safe using the last song of the last bank, as you're more likely to run out of room on the internal sequencer memory than you are to fill all that stuff up. There is a delete job for killing sequences, but I don't remember where this is.
The templates I spoke of in this case would be in the Motif itself. Something like allowing tracks 1 through 4 to have arps, setting reverb and chorus to zero, then saving the song or pattern, etc.
