hey Ramy:
you have to insert tracks into the projects.  When you start reaper, it's 
already in a new project, so simply hit control T to insert a new 
track...when you hit control T, an edit box will pop up allowing you to 
label the track.  You can leave this blank or put in a label...hit enter on 
the blank box or type something in and hit enter.

You then have to arm the track by hitting F7.
You can put in as many tracks as you want, and you have to arm each one 
individually.
So if you want to lay down a guitar track, then sing over it, just insert 
one track, then arm it, then press the letter R to start recording.  The 
space bar will stop recording.
Then, hit control T again for a second track, and arm it.  Arrow back up to 
the first track and disarm it, then you can record your vocal track over the 
guitar track.
Remember to always go back to the beginning of the project before recording 
again or before adding a new track...W or home will take you back to the 
beginning.

Also use the F12 key to turn on training mode.  This will allow you to hit 
any key combination and get feedback as to what it does...hit f12 again to 
toggle training off.
