[RWP] little help needed by getting started with reaper

Configuring Audio and Midi:
You will find the place to configure your sound card in
Options/Preferences, audio and Midi Device.
You can get to Options/Preferences from track view by pressing F6 to
open the menus.
Tab to options; then arrow up to preferences, and hit enter..
In Options/Preferences there's a list of topics you'll find at your
number pad.
Left click on any of these topics like audio, midi devices, plugIns, VST,
etcetera, and that topic appears at your tab and arrow keys for
configuration.
Left click on Audio.
Audio is a main topic; audio and Midi Devices are sub-topics under audio.
Tab through selections and edit boxes.
If your audio device supports ASIO, select ASIO.
ASIO generally provides the least latency and best sound.
There is an edit box with the name of your audio device; or midi device;
follow by the word enabled or disabled.
If your device is disabled, go over to your number pad, right click on
the name of your device (sound card,) then go back to your
tab and arrow keys; and you'll find a dialog to configure and enable your
devices.
This is a separate but similar procedure for audio and midi.
With your space bar put a check mark into both enable; and; enable for
control; then click on apply and okay.
Then, at the tab key, the name of your
device will say enabled after your sound card's name.
After completing configuration of audio and midi, be sure to click on
Apply and then click on Okay.
To test if midi is coming into Reaper, go back to the track view, and
insert a VSTI synth.
The shortcut control plus the insert key above the arrow keys takes
you to Reaper's lists of Plugs.
Tab until you find the VSTI folder.
Select a VSTI synth and hit enter to load that plugIn
The plugIn will load, and a track will be created with its name.
Selecting Tracks:
Arrowing up or down to the track with the synth's name selects that track.
Track Options:
press your tab key and you will hear the track's
options, such as midi channel, record mode, pan position,
etcetera.
To record on the selected track:
Set its record armed to on.
Assign a midi channel, the same midi channel your midi keyboard is
transmitting.
Set monitor to normal; then press the enter key to keep your
configuration of track options.
Recording:
Press R to begin recording.
Press R again, or press spacebar, to stop recording.
Press W to rewind to beginning of the recording.
Press spacebar to play your recorded track.
