[RWP] Isn't Reaper Open Source?

Hi,
As far as I know, Reaper is not open-source technically. For a program to be
open-source, that means all the source code and documentation needed for
anyone to compile the actual program must be available to the public. What
Reaper has, rather, is a very open API with good documentation.
Another way to visualize this would be to imagine an electronic device that
interfaces with other devices built either by the same company or by others.
Now if Reaper were such a device, the jacks on the back would be either of a
standard design, or if custom, proper documentation would be available
regarding how to connect other devices, and even what types of signals the
Reaper device expects and generates. If Reaper were open-source, instead of
just having good docs on the connectors, there would also be schematics of
the internal circuitry, design documents, firmware code files, etc. In other
words, there would be enough information that anyone with the know-how could
build a new device of this type from scratch.
