[RWP] Splitting a Track

[Indigo]

How do I split a midi track and end up with the two sections on separate 
tracks, with no silence at the beginning or end of either track?
I understand that I put the cursor at the beginning of the second 
section, at measure 9, but what's the command to cut from the cursor 
back to the beginning of the track.
  Then how do I get the cut section onto a new track, by itself?
