[RWP] What is multi select mode?

Is the subtlety about this, as I understand it that, if you use up and down arrow to move to a track, and you press shift+space, before actually moving to one of the items on that track, the entire track, including all items will be selected.  But, if you first use control+left or right arrow to move to a particular item on that track, then only that item will be selected on that track.

I think I got that right.

  multi-select mode allows you to select tracks/items without holding CTRL or Shift all the time.
  CTRL+Shift+Space says what's selected.
  to enter select mode , press Shift+Space , now whenever you wish to select something , just press Shift+Space.
  arming/soloing while in multi-select mode should work normally , but I'll test it again.
  to get out of multi-select mode , thus unselecting everything , press Shift+Escape.

    I was selecting a few tracks and when I pressed shift spacebar I got a message that said entering multi mode.  I couldn't get out of it without restarting reaper.  When in multi mode what ever track was last selected would say touch or something like that.  I don't know what that is, but I could only select a track by pressing sshift spacebar and I couldn't arm it or solo it or anything.
