you can select multiple tracks either by Shift+up/down arrows , or the multi-select mode engaged by pressing Shift+Space , then , when positioned on a track you wish to be included , press Shift+Space to add it to the selection.
nudging is done with Numpad 8=up and 2=down while in NumLock mode.
to disengage multi-select mode , press Shift+Escape.

    1 How do you select and move a portion of a track or tracks.  In Sonar it is easy to select a number of tracks and nudge them where you like.
  2 I still haven't found an answer to my problem of layering items and hearing them at the same time on a single track.  I'm sure its very obvious but I just can't find that magic check box.
