[RWP] Latency

I solved the excess midi latency problem.
Audio settings do affect midi latency extremely, as I read in posts in
Cockos forums.
First, in Options/audio I set the buffer size to 128 samples, said to
be a reasonable comprimise, instead of the original default 1200 samples.
Some users with fast computers report that 64 samples is enough for the
audio buffer.
Tabbing down in the audio settings I found that my EMu sound card's ASIO
driver had accidentally become replaced with a generic ASIO driver
that's on my computer.
Trying to learn what changes I could make in that ASIO driver that
occupied the edit box, like right clicking on it, hitting enter on it, I
right arrowed on it and discovered that my named EMu ASIO driver
suddenly appeared there.
I don't know how it got replaced with the generic driver, maybe I
snagged that selection somehow by accident earlier.
Also, a few tabs down from there is a button to configure my EMu ASIO
driver.
I hit enter on it and got a small dialog that didn't let me set the
buffer size in my E-Mu control panel with speech, as I hoped, but did
let me set latency.
I set it to 5ms for now, if I hear no crackling I'll go back and set it
lower.
I also checked the option in audio to use the reported latency from the
sound card.
This is important, since Reaper uses the reported latency to calculate
compensation for the sound card's latency.

Now, with 5ms latency, when running various soft synths, they feel like
I'm playing hardware synths, with midi latency low enough to not be a
problem.
