[RWP] range of item length change with tempo

Congratulations for you being able to do that. I just can't, no matter
what I do. Don't know what's different, but below or above a certain
tempo, which I haven't quite found yet, it just stops, or doesn't change
altogether.
I'm trying to do gradual tempo changes, and it's very disconcerting to
just have it stop working while the metronome continues on as if nothing
really matters.
