You only need the seperate monitormixes when you record other musicians/singers, so that you can assign hardware inputs to seperate outputs for hardware monitoring with zero latency.
Ask someone to move the desired faders and save it as a preset. The 8r has many knobs on the unit, so it's easy to work with. You can do further monitormix adjustments with Reaper itself.
