[RWP] May I suggest a change.

This method is precisely how access to plugins is working in Pro Tools
on the Mac currently. It has it's flaws with synths and samplers
mainly, but for the majority of audio processing style work it's
turned out to be a consistent method and I really enjoy using it.

Here's hoping that Ivan finds time to implement the idea!
