[RWP] May I suggest a change.

wel how about this .. up and down arrows select the track  and ctrl
+shift + [ & ]   narrows that selection to the start and end points .
if just skips the step of  having to move through items  for a
selection but you can still navigate by selection   with ctrl+ left
and right arrows and narrow the selection to items with ctrl + shift +
left and right arrows,  but its not required to do that step first ..
that way no toggle is needed and every one can works efficiently as
their workfow requires for that project.
