[RWP] Folders vs. Sends

you can add  effects to each track.
Take the example of a drum kit, with each drum miked up.  You would 
naturally have each drum gated, compressed, eq'd etc.  Lets say you want to 
put a compressor across the drum mix though.
You'd put each of the drum tracks in a folder.
The reason for the creation of the blank track is so  that the effect of the 
first track  in the folder isn't the first affect of the track.
In other words, making a track containing material the first track in a 
folder means that you cannot have effects on that material other than those 
applied to the folder.
