Thanks Rene.  That did help.  The only drag is that you need to double click 
on an event to edit it.  How would you do that with NVDA?  I'm using jaws 
and I could script it to work better I'm sure, but we're trying to get away 
from that gui dependent stuff.  Now, here's another question for you.  How 
would you paste a selected area multiple times?  Do I really need to do the 
paste operation over and over.  Sonar lets you specify the numer of times to 
paste something.

Hi Gordon,
What you need to do, is open Reaper's midi editor, then press alt+3 to
enter the list view. Then you'll see all the events listed as text. if
you press f you get the option to filter events. The events type you
select there will be the only that will be shown when you enter the
list editor again. Just press enter to get back.
This can be a really easy way to select the events that should be quantized.
While in the list editor just press q to enter the quantize menu which
will present you with some useful options. There you can also choose
between all notes or selected notes, or all events or selected events.
