[RWP] Changing Views

I don't know the correct Reaper terminology yet, but how do I go back and 
forth from the screen Reaper first presents when you insert a virtual 
instrument onto a track, and the track view with the tracks and track 
settings.
Some of my VST synths don't change presets when sent program change messages 
from my midi keyboard, but display a list of presets I can select from
If I hit escape from that view I go back to the track view, where I can 
record, but I don't know how to get back to the synth view to change 
patches.
