I just discovered upon the installation of quicktime alternative, reaper can import videos made with the zoom q3 in mov format, as well as several other video formats. What this means for us is that we can apply any number of effects to the audio before rendering to DVD. This is a big deal for me because I record a lot of concerts and gigs with the q3, but find its AGC makes files which peak at -12. I want to compinsate for the autogain in post, and have only been able to do that in sound forge for my own personal copies, not that which goes to DVD until today.
My question is, though this is a list dealing with the accessibility of reaper and what can be used with it, which video format whould I render? lossless video, though good in principal made a 41 second recording 1250 megs, that's a bit much especially considering gigs last much longer than that.
I know nothing about video codecs, and though obviously wouldn't see any degradation, don't want to be responsible for it.
So if you guys could poke around the render dialog, importing 1 movie or 2, making a random cut or 2, and render the project, I'd appreciate knowing the result. I'm sure some of us have some vision on this list.
