I know that Reaper tries to solve the access problem in a screen reader independent way, but, for some small cases, screen-reader specific tweaks might be appropriate.

Actually, that might happen already. I'm not as technically up on the implementation as I'd like to be, so sorry if this has already ben setup.

Having checked the Media explorer again I think the problem is the screen reader not getting focus to the respective drives and wave files which may be in a particular directory.  It is possible to focus on a drive or wave files by using the jaws cursor, but it means fiddling about rather a lot.  I hope that this can be sorted out with out too much difficulty.
