[RWP] To all who use Reaper.

I need to solve two problems.  Can any of you help?
I am restricting myself to audio and not midi. 1 I can move items on a given track via the nudge controls, but I want to place one item over another and have both items sound at the same volume.  at the moment if I move an item directly over another it cancels out the audio of the first item.
2 I want to have reaper place the cursor at the beginning of an item when I insert a wave file.
