[RWP] Attaching a plugin to an item and then tweaking its parameters.

After you have pressed shift plus e, to open the effects window for the item in question, how do you manipulate any of the parameters if it is a vst plugin.  I have found that the learn feature doesn't seem to work in the effects window for items, unlike the effects window for tracks.
