[RWP] newbe with reaper, really stuck

Hi,
I've tried reading the online docs, like the rreaper wiki, and the keyboard
shortcuts, and what they say and what actually happens are two different
things. I'll start from the beginning here.
I go into reaper, press control t to start a new track, give it the name
test, press down arrow to select it. Rea Access says track1 test. I press f7
to arm the track, press r to record, then when I'm done, I stop. One of
these three things happen.
First, I stop the recording, I play the file, it plays fine.
Second, I stop, then play, only the last second or so is heard.
Or third, I stop, Rea access says play. Then when I press space to stop,
then space to play again no sound is heard.
Now, if everything worked okay and the whole file is able to be played, I
unarm the first track, then start a second, setting it up the exact same way
I did the first. But when I stop recording, it's always messing it up, doing
the things I mentioned above. I have never gotten it to record a successful
second track, and rarely a good first one either.
The quick start on the reaper online user guide didn't help, it made it look
like 1, 2, 3, and it certainly isn't working like that here. Is there
something I'm missing or a document somewhere that could get me started with
Rea Access with Reaper or something? The keyboard shortcuts and the Reaper
help files are still not explaining this weird behavior.
I hope I haven't confused you *smile*. I guess i'm so used to Gold Wave and
a few other programs, I haven't used a multitracking editor yet.
