Hi!
I'll try to describe a real situation with receives.
There is vocal track, and i'd like to add some back voices using ReaVoice plugin. This FX has MIDI input so:
we create new track for Back singer:
now using the method you prefer (context menue or dialog) we choose the first track as receive for this new one;
Then we asign ReaVoice fx and MIDI input for the back singer track.
After arming this track we can prepare new material playing notes on MIDI keyboard simmultaniously with sound of the first track.
and at least we just render new audio track.
I usually work with hardware desk so was confused with therminology and its meanning of software DAW and tried to imagine both lines of Send/Receive too.
Sorry Derek, it should be cool to know what do you think of my example and does it moves you closer to the realising.
Best!
Jinseng.
