[RWP] Recommendations on a USB sound device with asio?

technically yes they are the same thing. However an audio interface
usually implies  more than just a stereo in and out  and usually have
some amount of higher quality converters and or mic preamps for more
professional results. Now if you are planning on running your mixers
main outs into the 2 inputs on something like an e-mu 0404, then you
will record only the mix of all 8 channels  as it and not each of the
8 channels to their own individual track in reaper. So if you would
like to get 8 tracks at once on their own individual track  in Reaper
then you will need  something like the aformentioned  fast track pro
or a tascam us1641 also gets good reviews. Both 24bit/96khz and don't
go up to 192khz. Whether or not you want to record at even 96khz or
even 192 is debateable would would  yield extremely large file sizes
for not much of  return in audio quality. 24bit 44.1khz is a more than
sufficient place to start Also Reaper like most other recording
programs will work fine with WDM  drivers as well as ASIO and some
people say that they have better experiences with WDM on newer  Multi
