Just wondering. But you are planning on using your mixer stereo outs
into the emu 0404 to record 8 inputs at once. Not sure if you are
aware that  that will only capture the stereo mix of all 8 inputs and
not put all 8 inputs on their own seperate track. In order to do this
u would need an interface that will let you input all 8  signals
directly into it and record them that way. If you don't mind taking
the mix of all 8 inputs then the emu 0404 is a fine choice. However,
if you want something that can take all 8 inputs it self  then the
tascam us1641 seems to get alot  of good reviews. However much like
the aformentioned m-audio fast track pro, you would be limited to
24bit/96khz
