[RWP] need help

Hi,
I need a little help with reaper..
I have a media file and I wat to make a loop out of part of it. For
this I need to cut the extra parts out of the file so I can save them.
I'm trying to use the cursor with left and right arrows but it just
moves between measures and has no effect, and I can't select audio
either.
I'm also trying to select part of the file to apli a fade reverb but I
can't select anything.
and then I want to be able to mix shorter files in the loop so I can
make a mix of stuff.
Any help would be appreciated.
