Yes, that should do it. To make things as easy as possible, I'd
try to make sure the serial port is mapped to COM1 in Windows.
Otherwise you might have to play guessing games with the name of
the serial port. I'm not sure how to verify the name of your
serial port, but it should only be necessary if things don't just
work out of the box. Even then, there are only so many com ports
to try, and if things are working correctly, you're bound to hit
the right one sooner or later.<br>

Yes, I am using Jaws version 13. So simply hook the DecTalk Express to the serial port and Jaws sees it. Then I just go through the 'add a synthesizer' setup in Jaws?

Hi,
I'm assuming you're using a Windows screen reader that supports the DECtalk Express. If so, you don't need any special software or firmware to make it work, it should just work. The DECtalk Express 4.2CD software is for use in DOS or Windows 3.X as far as I know.

I am getting a new pc soon and want to install my DecTalk Express hardware synthesizer on this new pc. This new pc does have a serial port.
I currently have the Dectalk express running on my windows XP system, but can't locate the software/firmware I need in order to install it on my new pc (Windows 7 64bit). If I remember, I think it was 4.2C or something.
Can anyone help?
