[DECtalk] A little question about some of the audio files in the DECtalk archive

How are you recording it?  If you use a microphone, you will incur
lots of noise.

To see how much noise your *recording* aparatus (PC?) has "built-in",
try shorting the input that you were using to record the Express
and see what the "noise floor" looks/sounds like.

If you  have an inherent problem with noise in your recordings, there
are tools that can post-process the recordings to clean them up.  But,
a little "background hiss" is usually not disruptive.
