[DECtalk] I found some old interesting DECtalk stuff, and some questions

Hi Blake,

The DECtalk 4.40 can’t sing properly, because the vibrato is broken. If you listen to songs from i.e 4.3 or other version, you’ll notice the vibrato, but in 4.40 there’re absolutely none.

Best regards:

Aksel Christoffersen

Aksel,
What do you mean by the comment "I don't like
4.40, since the singing is broken"? I can run the 4.40 speak window on Windows 10 with no problems. The speak window can definitely sing.
Blake

I personally think DECtalk 4.41 is as good as 4.3. I don't like
4.40, since the singing is broken, but 4.41 is good, I think, it's just very
difecult to get the speak window running.
The funny b-sound you menchoned is in 4.5 and 4.6.

This originally went to the sender only. Sorry about that!

Hi,

I know this is totally wishful thinking, but I wish somebody could find
the source code for 4.3 and do something with it. Imho that was the best
of the software DECtalk versions. Version 4.4 was fine, but if I
remember correctly, the B sound was a bit funny in that version. I think
4.2CD was my all around favorite version, but AFAIK that only ran on the
DECtalk Express, etc.
