I think history is being re-written here.

Zero call-out to the folks at and associated with DEC that made all the 
speech backend stuff work.

Marty Minow. Ed Bruckert, Tony Vitale. Dave Conroy, and many others I 
don't know of.

And when you google thru and see that story about Hawking meeting Moore, 
and Moore allegedly saying "wouldn't you rather have a real Intel 
computer and not an AMD?" you need to realize that Intel gave exactly 
zero f's about embedded CPUs in the 90s.. which is why the DECtalk PC II 
is AMD based. I know, because I designed and delivered it.
