[DECtalk] DECTalk DTC08 Firmware Version Number?

Today I received a DECTalk Express DTC08 which didnt got the latest 
Frimware from digital (with a good sound) = 4.2cd .
Sadly the upper case was destroyed by the air cargo from the U.S to 
Germany :-(

But on the other hand I did buy it as-is and the mainboard isnt dead :-)

It only tells me the firmware date via RS232 (at power on) and the 
speaker [:version speak] :
DECtalk Express Speech Synthesizer. [10/26/94 11:24:28]
1..  .  ROM checksum: B1
Copyright (C)1993,1994 Digital Equipment Corporation - All Rights Reserved
[Go] DECtalk Express is running.

Does anyone know the Firmware version number for this date?
Does anyone know why DTC08 will start with a beep only at the second 
power-on sometimes? Battery or old capacitor?

BTW: If anyone has a defective unit where I could use the case - pleae 
leave me a comment here :-)
