Strange. I never had that happen before.

This old version of Narrator also recognizes the AT&T Natural
voices. I
purchased several AT&T natural voices a couple years ago from
www.nextup.com
I reinstalled Mike just now on this computer to see if he would
work with
the old Narrator version. He is recognized but doesn't talk.
Maybe I need to
reinstall SAPI version 4; I'm not sure.

Hi,
I was in a windows 2000 virtual machine and i found the microsoft
narrator program files.
I copied the files to a thumb drive and went back to windows 8.1.
I ran the narrator.exe file. I expected it not to work, but to my
surprise i heard the voice of at&t flextalk speaking in narrator.
I attached the zip file that contains the narrator program files.
It doesn't matter where you unzip the files. Have fun.
Jake
