[DECtalk] question about sapi dectalk

No. When I say it won't sing, that also means none of the parameters will
work. Head size, pitch, everything will be gone. So if it won't sing,
it's gonna be like any other speech engine.

you couldn't be more right. Personally i'm tired of trying to deal with it
because I know our voices aren't going to be heard. They're just working
around the problem and acting like all their optomization is done.
But, they did at least do something. It at least has a chance now. But
only with those who want a cool synth to play with.
Will it also support other commands like pitch range, and head size, and
the other two to three dozen peramitors Dectalk supports? Even if it did, I
probably wouldn't use them, since I doubt they would implement a voice
creation system. Not even Dectalk really had such a thing, the closest we get
is Val, which only works for that Dectalk session.
I wish them a lot of luck. I don't want to do anything about or with it
anymore.

Actually it's worse than that.
1. No speak Window.
2. It would only have the Paul voice.
3. It won't sing.
4. It probably won't dial but I'm just guessing.
5. I'm betting the tones won't work.
So in a nutshell it well be junk in my opinion.
I was the guy that was going to be doing the dictionary. I will not touch
or promote this SAPI because I think this is totally degrading to Dennis
Klatt and everything he worked for. I am well known for my work with
Dectalk. Please, let it be known that I do not support this release, nor do I
wish to be associated with this SAPI in any way. This in my opinion is
garbage and will be a very big disappointment to those who know and love Dectalk
and expect all the features that Dectalk once had.
I never met Dennis, but I love and respect his work. I hope others have
the same respect. Lets all remember what once was great.
I will support any efforts to bring back the Dectalk and all it's features
that we all know and love and want in a SAPI. But this is not that SAPI.

Ok, Here's the latest news update about SAPI Dectalk's release. Two things
were decided by the Dectalk SAPI powers that be.
1. No speak window will be included.
2. There is only one voice, Paul.
Also, it is my understanding that SAPI Dectalk now costs $19.95.
