[DECtalk] Any news?

I'm pretty sure it will. The least we can do is not buy it and discourage others from using it, unless they decide to make a change. I am hoping they will, but I'm very sure they won't.

sounds like it's going to be released no matter what and even if some on this list want it scrapped it looks like this will be released.

Bingo! That's why it would be better to scrap it. If released as is, it messes with a dead man's life long reputation. I'm sick over this!

What's worse is that, if this gets released in its current state, any good
name DECtalk may have had will get tarnished. We all thought Force did
horrible things with it. Now this! Someone who sees that a SAPI version of
DECtalk is available is likely to get excited if they know what DECtalk is.
When they put down their bucks to actually buy the thing, I hate to even
think what the reactions will be. This is ridiculous, and an insult to
      Dennis Klatt.
Someone who just wants a SAPI synth who has no idea what DECtalk is might
find the Paul voice acceptable. It sounds like an old guy, which is
certainly *not!* how it's supposed to sound. But I'd love to tell such a
person to type [:nu] and see what happens after that.
