Aha. That might explain something. Although you say this was from the first 
singing DECtalk.

I have a DTC01 which reports itself as being version 2.0, code generated 
July 23, 1984, dictionary generated July 2, 1984. I ran some singing through 
it once, unfortunately I didn't have a recorder going at the time. And I 
thought it sounded a bit lower in pitch than the later DECtalks.
