hi everyone -
i just wanted to add a small note to snoopi's message about being sort of adopted by dectalk. i'm someone who was lucky enough to be able to be a student of Dennis Klatt. i arrived at MIT in 1979, and right away took Dennis' Speech Lab class and started working on speech synthesis. one of the stories Dennis used to tell us frequently was why he made DECtalk sing, which was to give a musical voice to persons like Snoopi, and that the first song that Dennis programmed was Happy Birthday to his daughter Laura. So, I feel that Snoopi is carrying on the musical tradition that was one of Dennis' motivations for working on speech synthesis in the first place. Snoopi is not "adopted" - he's the next generation of the DECtalk family that Dennis fathered.
