[DECtalk] THE QUESTION MARK

Hi,

It's up on the DECtalk archive, and a direct URL is
http://www.bluegrasspals.com/dectalk/Miscellaneous/dectalk4.3.zip

Note that that's a Sean Randall distribution and so it might not have
exactly the same files as the DEC distribution all that time ago.

Is the 4.3 version available to anyone interested? How could I get a
copy? I
work in research and teaching, and often have things I'd like to try out
(I
need wav files generated) by having subjects listen and evaluate.

Hi,
As I understand it, the demo programs are produced so that potential
clients
can evaluate DECtalk to see if it meets their needs, from a quality of
speech etc. prospective. I assume that a full version would maybe be a
Speak window but also contain libraries and other files so that DECtalk
could be interfaced directly with other programs. The demo, at least
version 4.3, will read a file up to about 60K in size. Also, version
4.3
lets you convert the text into a wav file which is very nice! Version
4.6.1
or is it 4.61 won't let you do that, and I happen to have a copy of the
4.6.4 demo and it also won't convert to wav.
Jayson.
