Message-ID: <696DF4FA-FB2D-4205-9DD1-B0156C7355F8@gmail.com> Hi, I was thinking it might be fun to investigate kegs for android. So, the docs for this aren't great. They mostly consintrate on mac os and linux. The first thing it wants to do is search for roms and it's asking me if I have a version one rom or a version three rom but I don't know what the difference is. I'm wondering, can I use the roms from mess? If so, which version specification are they? If there's internest in this I'd like to start a discussion over on www.inclusiveandroid.com. Thanks for any help you can be. Not sure about the ROMs from MESS, they're in zips, maybe you could extract the required ROM file from that. The ROM 00 and 01 versions have 256K of RAM on the motherboard. The ROM 03 has a megabyte on board, as well as a slightly changed control panel, sticky keys, and more enhancements. I used other.dsk from the mess folder. Once copied into the appropriate location on my sd card, kegs recognized it as a disk image and booted it. The keyboard in kegs works great. The options are 100% accessible. The only hitch is that our talking disk image does not come up talking. I had a sighted person look at the screen. The main menu comes up. I can use the kegs keyboard to input a number, 6 for example. The great escape loads. Mooooaah! Now if only I could figure out why no speech. I think I am going to move this over to inclusive android now. If any one wants to chime in on the discussion, please come over so we can get the accessible android community aware of this. Kegs doesn't emulate the Echo synthesizer. Mess doesn't speak because it's emulating an Apple II E, it speaks because it also emulates whatever Echo hardware. Alternatively, if it does, you'll need to figure out how to enable the emulation, or possibly change the slot the Echo lives in. I had that thought after sending my last message, but if that's the case, I guess I'll have to write the developer. I mean I don't suppose it's even as simple as swapping in a new ron, but what do I really know about this stuff? I guess I'll drop an email and see what they say.
